 GGT-Footing Base Mats have been developed for jumping and dressage arenas and provide a separation layer that prevents gravel and stones from moving up into the footing material while providing good drainage and stability.
This new generation of Base Mats has a water reservoir that is able to deliver water to the footing from below over time and can facilitate minimal utilization of water. Excess water can drain through the small holes.
The durable material delivers a long lasting base construction and is easy to install on gravel, asphalt and compacted dirt, concrete or compound stone.
Installation
 The ground needs to be prepared before laying the rubber mats. The preparation differs depending on type and condition of soil.
The top soil needs to be removed and the sub base needs to be sloped to a 1%-2% grade. Then crushed rock, small stone or gravel needs to be installed on the sub base. Now the mats can be laid directly on that base. The mats are now sitting safe and securely in the ground. The crushed rock base lets the water drain without any problems.
The mats can be laid out in one row with approximately ½ inch space between the mats. Through the structure on the bottom of the mats they will sit securely in the ground. Sliding or slipping of the mats is not possible.
Water can drain through the small holes in the mats in all directions. The mats also help store water in the recessed parts during drier times.
 For the footing specific sand (2.5-3 inches) should be used. Of course, we recommend adding GGT fooring for better absorption and storage of water, less dust, excellent stabilization, etc. – see website for complete details and competetive analysis.
On concrete or asphalt or other already existing areas the mats can be laid out directly without having to prepare a base. This system makes it possible to build riding arenas fast and safe in stadiums, indoor arenas and other buildings for a horse show. After the show is over, the riding arena can be removed completely in 10-12 hours. The mats are cleaned easily with water und can be stored for the next use.
