Currently 23 colleges and universities offer Equestrian as a Varsity sport and more continue to add the program each year.

Jumps West was selected among all U.S. jump suppliers to provide on a very limited timetable unique decorative themed equestrian products to the Barrett family in Peyton, Colorado.

(excerpted from equipment supplier, nationsrent.com): Billy Jack Barrett, manager of the Air Force Academy Equestrian Center, and his wife Anne are known for opening their hearts and home to difficult horses from across the country. The success they have experienced in their equestrian business has labeled them the true "Horse Whisperers" of our time. At the same time, the couple has applied their talent and compassion to troubled children, some of whom are deemed unmanageable and unadoptable by the Colorado Department of Human Services (DHS). The Barrett's only challenge to adopting more of these children is that their small, 101-year old farmhouse could not fit any more by law. Anne Barrett took a chance and sent in a letter to Extreme Makeover: Home Edition asking for a new home and a possible new life for future children in need!

mounir fatmi
“Something is Possible”

February 10 – March 17, 2007

Jumps West provided Art quality Gallery exhibition materials for this special event. We supplied European designs in coordination with the Gallery and the artist, who flew in from Europe for the Opening.

Opening Reception February 10, 5 – 7pm

Shoshana Wayne Gallery is pleased to present its first exhibition of work by mounir fatmi. mounir fatmi constructs visual spaces and linguistic games that aim to free the viewer from their preconceptions of politics and religion, and allow them to contemplate these and other subjects in new ways. His videos, installations, drawings, paintings and sculptures bring to light our doubts, fears and desires. They directly address the current events of our world, and serve to both explicate the origins and symptoms of global issues, as well as speak to those whose lives are affected by specific events.

The exhibition “Something is Possible”, gathers together a series of artworks in diverse media that ask the viewer to search for hope within often terrifying and difficult subjects.
His sculptural installations using massive amounts of antenna cable inherently reference the transmission of information and the worldwide communications network. His severing and rejoining of the cables hints at the underlying media censorship, where gaps in information become gaps in public knowledge and understanding. In a similar manner, his sculptures formed out of VHS cassettes reference the bombardment of media through incessant duplication and repetition. In the most overtly political work of the exhibition, flags of each of the G8 countries, which act as visually symbolic icons of the enormous power held by these nations, are relegated to mere adornments atop push-brooms; both a tool of the common worker and a reminder of those affected by the decisions of the group.

mounir will also be exhibiting a new version of his installations using equestrian jumping bars; “obstacles”, both figurative and literal, which force the breakdown of pre-existent physical and psychological barriers. The obstacles operate on many levels, at once speaking to the distances between the Middle East and the West while simultaneously touching on the similarities in origins of traditions shared by these seemingly disparate nations and peoples. The traditional dichotomies of good and bad, beautiful and ugly, are torn apart, disallowing us to cast such narrow dispersions on complex topics. As a result, the interpretive possibilities offered to the viewer are vastly multiplied.

mounir fatmi’s work has been exhibited in the Migros Museum für Gegenwarskunst, Zürich, Switzerland, the Museum Kunst Palast, Düsseldorf, Germany, Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, France, and the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo Japan. He also recently participated in the Gwangju Biennial, Korea, and the Seville Biennial, Spain. In 2006 he was awarded the Grand Prize at the 7th Dakar Biennial, and his work will be included in the 2007 Luanda Triennial in Angola.

mounir fatmi was born in Tangiers, Morocco, and lives and works between Paris, France and Tangiers.

October, 2004

Jumps West supplies new jumps, course design services for Hunter Arena for Fox Reality Series:
" Renovate My Family" in Sugar Hill Georgia.

Renovate My FamilyTM and © 2004 Fox and its related entities. All rights reserved.

September 2004 - Jumps West was selected from over thirty national competitors to design a new Hunter Course for Cotton Creek Farm, in Sugar Hill Georgia. The Blankenship family, a local family whose farm will be featured on the FOX new reality series, RENOVATE MY FAMILY, lost their family home to a fire last spring.

Jumps West, in partnership with expert course designer Ruthanna Bridges of Bridges Training Stable will showcase their design and beautiful new Hunter arena course which airs in early October, 2004. The focus of the show is to give the family, which was devastated by a fire that burned their home to the ground, a new lease on life with a whole new house, personal appearance and lifestyle improvements, a renovated barn, and a brand new jump arena.

The new Hunter course includes all new PVC jumps with custom paint work and the family's Cotton Creek logo, a seven jump (two oxer) course with heights 2'3" to 2'6" designed for intermediate riders which can be ridden either direction. Based upon input from Jumps West and Ruthanna Bridges, the Fox team added all new grading, footing, fencing, and landscaping

The quality products we provided are designed to improve people's lives and make their arena both more usable and enjoyable. For a humid climate like Georgia's, PVC is ideally suited since it lasts longer and does not need the constant repairs and maintenance of traditional wood. Plus, with both boarders and students coming to the farm, PVC is much easier to move around when setting up different schooling course configurations.

RENOVATE MY FAMILY is produced by Rocket Science Laboratories, in association with Fox TV.

For more information about RENOVATE MY FAMILY, visit their web site at http://fox.com/renovatemyfamily/

to the family's training grounds and even touched up the family's existing jumps to include with the installation of the new arena.
